blank cds not recognized

on my HP Pavillion a630n is a Lite-On DVD+RW-8025 burner that has stopped recognizing 'blank cds' and pre-recorded cds also.....
have uninstalled/re-installed the Lite On unit......have uninstalled/re-installed the Itunes and Record Now software that is normally in use........have gone to start/administrative tools/services and adjusted the Imapi CD Burner to automatic........two days now with little sleep, and i still cannot figure it out......i am a music person that cannot 'burn' anything or have anything recognized in that drive.....appreciate any and all help
